Why should I minor in Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies?

What are the requirements to minor in Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies?
- Total of seven courses (28 units)
- One course must be a lower-division Core Course
- Five Courses must be upper-division courses

What are Core Courses?
All students who wish to minor in AAPI must take one of the three lower division core courses:
- ETHN 20: Introduction to Asian American Studies or
- HILD 7B: Race and Ethnicity in the US or
- LTEN 28: Introduction to Asian American Literature
Can I take courses P/NP for the minor?
No, courses must be taken for a letter grade.
Can I apply course(s) taken outside of UC San Diego to count toward the minor?
Students may petition courses to count toward the minor if it contains at least 50% of Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies related content. Email completed petitions to aapi@ucsd.edu and include the course syllabus and relevant coursework needed for review. Please submit one form per course.
I found a UC San Diego course that I want to use for my AAPI minor. Can I take it?

How many courses can overlap between a major and minor?
A student may apply the equivalent of two upper-division courses (a maximum of eight units) that have also been used to satisfy the requirements of their major curriculum to fulfill the requirements of the minor.
